My participatory research and music project, Sawt al-Shifaa (the sound of healing) explores Muslim experiences of sound, music and health. This project started as part of my research residency at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama (2024-2025), when I offered a series of creative workshops for Muslims and people of Muslim heritage in London.

Following the workshops, I made an illustrated zine alongside the group members to share and reflect on some of the topics that came up. The zine was launched in May 2025 as part of Creativity & Wellbeing Week and you can read it below or download it here. You can also check out my recent essay commissioned by London Arts and Health.

My first article from the project was published in April 2026 in Gateways International Journal of Community Research and Engagement, and can be read here.
