Education & Outreach
I have been teaching privately since 2011, and offer tuition in recorder, piano, music theory, general musicianship, and academic music studies. I have taught at schools including St Philip & St James’s School Oxford, East Oxford Primary School, Alban City School, and Blackheath Junior School. I have also taught classes at Birmingham Junior Conservatoire and Trinity Laban Junior Conservatoire, and have designed and currently teach my own rhetoric course at the Royal College of Music, London.
I love running workshops for different groups of all ages and abilities, and have had the opportunity to develop my workshop-leading skills as a trainee on the Wigmore Hall Chamber Tots Scheme, the Spitalfields Music Hub Scheme, and Live Music Now. With my ensemble Improviso I have delivered workshops in schools (including SEND schools), care homes, and hospitals. I have also led and assisted on workshops with the Oxfordshire Blind Association, at various theatres, and at music festivals. From 2017-2018 I worked with the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital Trust Arts Charity, CW+, helping to run the performing arts programme and delivering workshops and music sessions on the children’s and older people’s wards.
Education and outreach is an essential part of my work as a musician and I am always keen to work on projects that creatively engage with different groups of people through music.
